We put our heart into all we do, inside and outside of our walls. Community outreach and philanthropic work is an essential part of who we are as a company. Through time, talent and financial resources in countries large and small, the people of General Mills are actively working to make the world a better place. In Europe and Australia, we focus on hunger relief efforts and providing robust volunteer opportunities for our team. Here you can do your part to support our local communities and planet.

Here are some of the ways we contribute:
  • More than 350 employees volunteered across Europe and Australia as part of the “Good Goes Around," a global company event, supporting local non-governmental organizations focused on food security and biodiversity protection.
  • We actively support and volunteer with the Foodbanks–National Food Collection program through action in stores, sorting in warehouses and preparing holiday gifts for children.
  • In times of unexpected need we also step up to help. Most recently during COVID-19 we donated food products, masks, gloves and gowns to people and organizations in need.
General Mills Switzerland partners with various local charities to give back to our community. We collect food for Partage, and employees are entitled to a half-day to go there to sort food and prepare food bags to give to people in need. In addition to food, we also collect clothes for Caritas and have donated laptops to Le lieu-dit, which promotes information and integration of migrants in the Nyon region.
The company in France is committed to advancing our corporate foundation’s strategic focus on the fight against hunger and sustainable agriculture. We support various associations working for these causes including “la Fédération Française des Banques Alimentaires” (French FoodBanks), and “l’Observatoire Français d’Apidologie,” an organization focused on the preservation of biodiversity and saving pollinators. Additionally, we support local sourcing.
General Mills in the U.K. partners with FareShare to enhance food-recovery efforts and participates as a signatory to the Champions 12.3 global initiative to reduce food waste. In the UK, we operate a network of breakfast clubs for children, feeding over 5,000 kids every school day. We also encourage our teams to volunteer for many other causes including the Groundwork Trust, which operates a community garden local to our London headquarters.
In collaboration with Foodbank Australia, the people of General Mills provided 388,000 free meals. They also partnered with Latina Fresh and Landcare Australia on soil-management initiatives for improved sustainability of farm-production systems. In addition, General Mills and Nature Valley provided extensive disaster-relief resources for the recent, devastating Australian wildfires.
